Ms.Hoang Anh: Hello Van, I’m calling from Ms Hoa TOEIC Center, This Ms Hoang Anh, you are teacher. How are you doing today?

Van: I’m great. How are you?

Ms.Hoang Anh: Yeah, I’m great thank you. So are you ready for our lesson and Question 4 & 5 today?

Van: Yes I have.

Ms.Hoang Anh: Yes, Very good. So let’s begin!

Question When

Ms.Hoang Anh: Today, we are going to learn question When, to ask about time of an action.

Van: Yes. This one is easy for me. I can use in, at, on, during, before, after, right?

Ms.Hoang Anh: Yes, they are the prepositions in English. You can also use Clause that starts with When, such as I usually go shopping when I have free time. Alright, here is an example: When do you usually listen to music?

Van: I usually listen to music during beak time.

Ms.Hoang Anh: Very good. Sometimes, if the question is about something that happened in the past you can even use the word “ago” and past simple tense. For example: When did you graduate from university?

Van: I graduated from University two years ago.

Ms.Hoang Anh: Right. Very good. Now, second question “Where”.

Question Where

Ms.Hoang Anh: “Where” is used when you want to ask about location or place of an action.

Van: I can also answer it with prepositions, right.

Ms.Hoang Anh: To answer question with “Where” you use preposition of places such as “in, at, from, to , under, between, and so on… and here/ there. For an example: Where do you go shopping for clothes?

Van: I go shopping for clothes at the mall.

Ms.Hoang Anh: Hey, “clothes/z/” not clothes. So it’s the /z/ sound, not /iz/. Can you repeat please?

Van: Yes, I go shopping for clothes at the mall.

Ms.Hoang Anh: Yes, OK. So an other for example: Where are you from?

Van: I’m from here.

Ms.Hoang Anh: Very good. Alright. Next, when someone ask you “Why”, they want to know the REASON of an action.

Question Why

Ms.Hoang Anh: For an example: Why do you want to use a credit card?

Van: I use a credit card because it’s convenient to buy things online. Very good. I see you used “because”. It’s the most common answer to indicate a reason. Also, when you want to indicate a purpose, you can say “to do something” or “in order to” or “so that”. Let’s do that again. Why do you want to use a credit card?

Ms.Hoang Anh: I use a credit card to buy something when I don’t have enough cash with me.

Van: Wow, very good. I see you have improve alot.

Ms.Hoang Anh: Thank you.

Van: Yes, you’re welcome
